Three Iberian lynx have been released today in Mértola (Portugal)

Today, January 25, 2016, has started the second cycle of Iberian lynx reintroduction of the Life+Iberlince Project in Portugal.

It has been freed two females and a male, all born in captivity in 2014. It is about Myrtilis, a female from the breeding center of Silves (Portugal), and Mirandilla and Monfragüe, male and female born in the breeding center of the La Olivilla (Spain).

These releases are a continuation of those made in 2015 and aim to achieve a viable population of this species in southern Portugal, where it was historically and lynx. To achieve this goal close cooperation and coordination between the beneficiaries of the project partners in Spain and Portugal and the support of the local population in the areas of reintroduction is being fundamental.
