New release of a female lynx in the area Matachel

A new example of the Iberian lynx, from the Breeding Centre Zarza de Granadilla, was released yesterday, on February 8, in the area of Matachel by the method of hard loose.

It is a female named Maraca, that will join the 20 lynx that already exist in Extremadura in the area of the iberian lynx reintroduction. All the examles are equipped with lynx released necklaces location that allows adequate monitoring by technicians.

Lynx reintroduction in Extremadura by the Directorate General of Environment of the Junta de Extremadura began in 2014 as part of the Life+Iberlince Project: Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain and Portugal.
