Technicians from the LIFE+TETRAX Project visit Life+Iberlince Partners in Castilla La Mancha

Over the past week, members of the project LIFE+TETRAX visited the actions being carried partners Life+Iberlince Project in Castilla La Mancha.

The project LIFE+TETRAX aims to strengthen the population of little bustard (Tetrax tetrax) located in the Apulia region, the last of this species in the mainland of Italy. Currently, the small number of individuals who are located in the area object of intervention, estimated at less than 20-30 copies, required to be put in place urgent measures to prevent the extinction of this species.

During their visit, the LIFE + TETRAX Project technicians’ were able to witness the liberation in southern Ciudad Real de Medellín, a male born in the captive breeding centre in Zarza de Granadilla, Cáceres.

The exchange of views and cooperation between species conservation projects became a very important tool for a more global view of the important and hard work involved in the preservation of biodiversity.

Life+ is the financial instrument of the European Union dedicated exclusively to the environment. This program, launched in 2007, allows co-financing of actions for the environment both in the Member States and third countries in the Mediterranean area and the Baltic, as in countries of Central and Eastern European candidates for EU membership.
