Female found dead in Mértola (Portugal)

On the March 1, Myrtilis, female reintroduced on 25 January and released into the wild on the last February 8 in the project "Recovery of the historical range of the Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain and Portugal" (LIFE+10/NAT/ES/000570) was found dead by ICNF team field, a next drop of the local area during the monitoring reintroduced animals in Mértola region.

The causes of death of this lynx are still unknown and will be forwarded to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for necropsy and clearance of the same.
